London-based transport startup VivaCity raises £7m in funding to expand its AI traffic optimization platform to North America

VivaCity, a transport technology startup based in London, has raised £7m in funding from existing investors Foresight Group and Gresham House Ventures, as well as new investor ENV. The startup, founded in 2015, uses AI sensors to gather data on transport modes, traffic flow, and travel patterns to provide insight into transport network planning. VivaCity works with local council authorities, such as Nottingham City Council and Barnet Council, to help develop new urban planning strategies. With the latest funding, VivaCity plans to expand its AI traffic optimization platform to North America and continue its international expansion.

VivaCity has raised £7m in funding from ENV, Foresight Group, and Gresham House Ventures. The latest funding round follows a £5m Series A round in February 2022, and VivaCity has expanded its global sensor network to 20 billion road user counts between the two rounds. The funding will support VivaCity’s mission to optimize transport networks and improve urban infrastructure, increasing safety and sustainability on the roads.

The new funding round was led by ENV, a VC that focuses on sustainable infrastructure solutions. Existing investors, Foresight Group and Gresham House Ventures, also participated in the round. The investment will enable VivaCity to expand its product suite and continue international expansion. VivaCity aims to bolster its presence in North America, where it is piloting a project with the New York City Department of Transportation.
