The Monday Line: Losers Pout-Winners Fight (And Get Dirty if They Have To)!

Lebron James emphatically dunks Saturday night

“You’ve got to want this game as bad as your next breath, let’s go!” said by Lebron James of the Miami Heat before a dominating Game Seven Win Saturday night over the Boston Celtics. Our sport desk is a few times per year dusted off relic, but last night James rallied his teammates with a steely resolve and performance that backed up his words.

He wanted it and delivered. He also recognised it would take every member of the Heat squad to bring the victory home.

This is THE metaphor for the 2012 Presidential Election.

Democrats, you lost in Wisconsin. You got outspent and outhustled. Now get your head back in the game and show how you want this election ‘as bad as your next breath!’ Because from this chair 5-8,000 miles away, you look like you are already pouting over the unfairness of the system. And pouting is how you lose!

Pre-Game Huddle, "You have to Want this game as bad as your next breath, let's go!"

Right now, the GOP wants this election more than the Democrats and it shows. Rove has them believing even a pandering robotic Romney could win. The money is flowing in. The adverts are pre-bought.

Yes, there are still 148 days and 3,528 hours of cable news (almost five months) remaining. And the money issue this week got real as Walker outspent his rival 9:1 whilst Democrats looked disorganised, disheartened and dishevelled by the loss in Wisconsin.

Get over yourselves!

Huddle up with and listen to me channelling Lebron. If you want this, you have to shake off Wisconsin and realise this is a race that will go to the wire. You have to recognise that the GOP money machine will outspend the President 2 or 3:1 with the negative, most vile, disgustingly personal attacks ever seen in the history of political television.

Here is where you have to be strong. The whole purpose and strategy of Wisconsin was to divide and conquer the Middle Class and they succeeded. When union members are convinced to vote against their own personal interests deceptively, you know it will only get worse.

I wrote a new e-book just released this past weekend. (The Vagina Wars on Steroids: GOP’s Messaging War on the 99%), showing what further havoc the GOP was wreaking on women, the crazy money flooding the system and chronicled Mitt’s Mendacity (lying) on the trail. 283 lies caught by Steve Benen of The Maddow blog in his weekly column since the beginning of January. (Can you imagine the right wing noise if a Democratic candidate told 283 blatant lies?)

I have devoted three e-books now to the election and what is at stake. The first traced the GOP primary candidates (Liptstick on THIS Pig: The Insane 2012 Presidential Election) as a follow-up to a BBC radio appearance discussing how America goes about electing a President and what the primaries means. The second book (The Vagina Wars: The GOP’s War on Women) came out six weeks later and chronicled the 944 pieces of ALEC sponsored legislation in 45 states aimed at restricting women’s reproductive rights, equal pay, access to health systems and generally kicked poor women in the teeth.

They want you so sick of the process you stay home and don’t cast a vote out of disgust. They want to purge voters from the lists so you do not vote.

What is at stake? Democracy in the USA is at stake.

What is at stake? The already out of balance 5-4 Supreme Court becomes 7-2 conservative and its game over for the next 30 years or… President Obama swings it back to 5-4 or 6-3 with non-political non-ideological real SCOTUS justices.

What is at stake, control of the Senate and its ability to stop a radical right wing House.

What is at stake? A serial shape-shifting, pandering liar in the most powerful seat on earth or the man who has spent every day of the last three and half years cleaning up the messes they left behind and restarting the economy, trying to find balance and do the right thing?

It’s like President Obama flies the plane through massive storms from New York to Singapore and the GOP says “they’ll taxi it to the gate.”

Money alone does not buy hearts and minds of independent voters. It makes the lunatic right more crazy and keeps the left from voting out of disgust.

You cannot let that happen. You must convince every Democrat and Independent with a pulse how bad Mitt Romney is for women, the working class and how his agenda will put even more wealth in the hands of the 1% whilst starving services to those truly in need.

Simply put, “you need to want this election as bad as your next breath, let’s go!”
