Joan Walsh Is Right: Bill O’Reilly Is Vile

Posted on 16 June 2009 by Charley James | Comments (0) | Tags: Bill O'Reilly, Charley James, FOX News, Joan Walsh, salon.com, Tiller the baby killer

by Charley James
The good news about Fox News blubber mouth Bill O’Reilly is that he speaks to only a teeny, tiny percentage of the country; the bad news is part of that small and dwindling group actually thinks he makes sense and then goes out and kills people because they believe his vile, hate-filled rhetoric.
Much [...]

Hannity Insanity
Few people are better at creating a Krauthammer-lauded “alternate reality” than Fox’s Sean Hannity. Columnist Dick Polman provides an excellent example:
On his Fox show one week ago, Sean Hannity told his credulous fans that President Obama had made a deliberate effort during his Cairo speech “to give 9/11 sympathizers a voice [...]

The desperate have become maniacal. The US Republican Party is well beyond clutching at straws, it is about to disappear underneath the surface of the water for the third time and everyone from Dick Cheney to John Boehner to RNC Chair Michael Steele is desperately clinging to the highest masthead as party leader radio host [...]

Chris Matthews Is Becoming The Left’s Bill O’Reilly

As a progressive, one of the things that I appreciate about MSNBC’s evening line-up is that although its people have a liberal point-of-view, they stick to actual facts rather than slide down into the slimy half-truths and outright lies that Bill O’Reilly, Sean Hannity and the other on Fox’s right wing mouthpiece network [...]

Good that he signed that big new contract before these numbers… FOX News’ BillO is still calling for a Federal investigation of MSNBC’s recent ratings surge, costing him even more audience this week.

His map and view of the world is the only way McCain can be ahead and they casn justify moaning until election day. So [...]

TV Newser has the results. Here are the full totals instead of just the 25-54 demographic. What’s impressive here is that Fox’s audience really hasn’t shrunk - they’re pretty much fans and they’re not going to switch channels.
MSNBC’s Olbermann and Maddow combo has attracted hundreds of thousands of NEW viewers to the fold. Numbers are [...]

All this talk on Fox News about Gwen Ifill’s objectivity being compromised because she has a soon to be released book entitled, “Breakthrough: Politics and Race in the Age of Obama” sounds a lot like much ado about nothing.
I did a little searching and found that PBSs Jim Lehrer, moderator of several consecutive [...]

About The UKProgressive

UK Progressive E-Magazine began during the 2008 US Presidential Campaign and was created to consolidate and replace two blogs created in 2006 called “Outside the Boundaries,” a political blog and “Fire the Guru!” an expose blog of charlatans in the Mind Body Spirit business. It was briefly called The Vadimus Post. That name came from the Latin 'Quo Vadimus' or 'Where Are We Headed?'

When looking for pithy Latin URL names, I’d watched a moving episode of the same name (different tense, Quo Vadis) from Sports Night, an early series created by The West Wing’s Aaron Sorkin. It was the last episode and focused on the sale of the network to an unknown billionaire who asked the question every day of those who worked closest to him. He wanted to know the answer and… Do We Know Why? His rationale: we spend so much time on things urgent, we miss the important and do we ask ourselves (and others) why we are heading in a particular direction?

Well that is what we ask in these Op-Ed pieces, articles, live feeds, video segments and contributions from friends and affiliates. We are blessed to be able to dialogue with you and our aim is to provide independent, critical insight into the issues of the day. UK Progressive is published daily in Monknash, South Wales. Its founder, An American in Wales, is US journalist Denis Campbell who has been based in The Netherlands and the UK the last 11-years.

The opinions expressed are those of each contributor and do not represent the opinion of Denis Campbell (unless expressly authored by him), our advertisers, any related companies and/or their affiliates. UK Progressive is a free, continuously improving news distribution service (because none of us could live with ourselves or face our mothers if every edition did not represent our very best effort). A lot of work goes daily into producing this true labour of love.

While most of us have other day jobs to eat, we’d love to get to the point where we can monetize this so it covers all of our expenses, allows us to pay our contributors for their fine work and helps us to continue to expand and grow. While not like PBS or other media groups shilling for logo umbrellas every ten minutes, we find it embarrassing to even have to ask… and we could use your help.

If you like what you see here and would like to help us bring it to you by making a donation to support future developments, well, we’d really appreciate it. Our PayPal account is named after a lovely canal side café in Lochem, The Netherlands which our office overlooked years ago.

We promise a team cheer and ‘happy dance’ in your name in advance. Thanks.
