Last night Japan’s ruling party lost control of the Diet by a 3:1 margin.  Labour Prime Minister Gordon Brown escaped the UK and spent the weekend in Afghanistan. Is this where we are? The PM must go to a war zone to get some peace? As Japan goes, so goes Labour in 2010?
Mr. Brown has [...]

Blood in the Hearing Room! Republicans Circle Ominously Over Speech Sentence!

By Denis Campbell
Called the world’s most deliberative body, the United States Senate often more resembles a circus side show. 100 members can slow legislation to a crawl and demand that laws pass by a 60-40 super majority vs. a simple 51-49 majority vote. Failure to do that on important legislation such as climate change, healthcare [...]

MP Expense Row Drum Beats On

Her Majesty is “displeased.”
Queen Elizabeth II normally stays above the fray, so much so that “displeased” is a cause for alarm bells across Westminster and the land. Most monarchs in Europe’s labyrinth of Constitutional Monarchies serve largely “ceremonial” roles. Although most can still take the Draconian step of dissolving a dysfunctional government, they [...]

Is Sarah Palin About to Become Mrs. John Zaccaro?

Posted on 10 September 2008 by Denis Campbell | Comments (0) | Tags: $17, 000+, 18-months to pick a real running mate, 1984, 312 days worth of meal and housing per diems, base went wild, Blair, Chinese water torture, Conservative leader David Cameron, day-12 of the “when will she talk to the press” watch, Democratic Senator Joe Lieberman, drip of scandal, earmarks, general feeling of entitlement, Geraldine Ferraro, Homeland Security, just keep breathing, Lib Dems Sir Menzies Campbell, live vetting process, McCain, MP expenses, Mrs. John Zaccaro, MSM questions, obama, off-the-cuff gaffe about Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, outrageous lies, political napalm, polls rebounded dramatically, President Reagan, Prime Minister Brown, pro-choice, real estate developer husband, reams of documents, rightt wing blogs trying hardest to protect her, Sarah Palin, scurrilous and ridiculous, Sex Education for 5-year olds, show her incredibly poor judgment, spinning badly out of control, Stump speech embellishments, tied to indicted Alaska Senator Ted Stevens, to stay at home, Tom Ridge former Pennsylvania Governor, trooper-gate, up yours to the party, Walter Mondale, won re-election in a landslide, worse than Dan Quayle

In 1984, Geraldine Ferraro was chosen by Democratic Presidential candidate Walter Mondale. The base went wild, polls rebounded dramatically and then when “our Geraldine” became Mrs. John Zaccaro, her real estate developer husband and the press focussed in on his “interesting” business dealings, President Reagan won re-election in a landslide.
Now, Sarah Palin whose high pitched [...]

About The UKProgressive

UK Progressive began during the 2008 US Presidential Campaign. It replaced two blogs: "Outside the Boundaries" (dedicated to US/UK Politics and Business) and "Fire the Guru!" an expose of charlatans in the Mind Body Spirit business. It was briefly known as The Vadimus Post from the Latin 'Quo Vadimus' or 'Where Are We Headed?'

We publish from a 19th century hilltop farmhouse in Monknash on the South Wales Glamorgan Heritage Coast. US-journalist Denis Campbell, based in The Netherlands and UK for 12-years is the publisher/editor. You can follow his live news feed on Facebook.com (Denis Campbell) and Twitter @UKProgressive.

UK Progressive is a free service. I cringe every time I hear a pbs, truthout or npr never-ending appeal for money. They make much more than we do. We're not your mother, we'll skip the guilt trip. If you like what you see here and would like to help us bring it to you by making a donation to support future developments, we'd really appreciate it. Thanks.
