“Sicko” by Michael Moore on DVD

Posted on 29 July 2008 by Denis Campbell

sicko-full.JPG Sicko by Academy Award Winning documentary film-maker Michael Moore, is a brilliant look at the broken US Healthcare industry. While many countries have adopted a health system to help care for its population, the USA has 1/6th of its population suffering from no insurance coverage and those with insurance through Health Maintenance Organisations or HMO’s are often denied life-saving medical cures by accountants and claims staff whose job is not the wellness og the patient but the bottom line of the HMO. So they subsequently look to deny any coverage for any reason to save the HMO from costly procedures with the patient in some cases dying before treatment.

It is a highly informative and damning look at the broken health and political system and the lobbyists who keep it going without change adding huge profits to these healthcare industry comanies. Michael Moore talks with may people in different countries on what we must do to change it.

Not for the meek, weak of heart or spirit.

Denis, I thank you for bringing this post to your readers.

My DD (dear daughter) bought the DVD for me for Christmas as she understood my recent plights.

I rate this video a 10, and I care not for who made it or why they made it. but for it’s stark wake up call for those that have not yet been touched by the atrocities of our health care system.

My DH (dear husband) has resolutely refused to view this documentary based alone on the particulars that it was made my Micheal Moore. Sad that we label people insomuch to our detriment we will not even hear their opinion

It surely cannot be the informing look we refuse as we stick our heads further down in the sand, or is it we can not stand the damning glare from other countries who actually laugh at our health care system?

I am 100% pro-America, but we need a major tune-up or overhaul in health care. No candidate seems to reasonably present a volatile option in IMHO.

About The UKProgressive

UK Progressive began during the 2008 US Presidential Campaign. It replaced two blogs: "Outside the Boundaries" (dedicated to US/UK Politics and Business) and "Fire the Guru!" an expose of charlatans in the Mind Body Spirit business. It was briefly known as The Vadimus Post from the Latin 'Quo Vadimus' or 'Where Are We Headed?'

We publish from a 19th century hilltop farmhouse in Monknash on the South Wales Glamorgan Heritage Coast. US-journalist Denis Campbell, based in The Netherlands and UK for 12-years is the publisher/editor. You can follow his live news feed on Facebook.com (Denis Campbell) and Twitter @UKProgressive.

UK Progressive is a free service. I cringe every time I hear a pbs, truthout or npr never-ending appeal for money. They make much more than we do. We're not your mother, we'll skip the guilt trip.
