Romney Surrogates: ‘Expect Double-Digit Bump with Ryan’ (America Asks Which Way?)

Mitt Romney’s surrogates expect a double digit bump for him placing Congressman Paul Ryan  a 42-year-old, 7-term Republican from Wisconsin on the ticket as Vice President.

Ryan, the poster child of a do-nothing Congress that announced last week (with four months until the election) that it will work exactly 16-days between ow and 06 November (for an average salary of almost $200,000 per member). This 112th Congress has an approval level below genital herpes and Mitt Romney’s running mate is not a former Governor, rather the poster child for ‘my way or the highway’ dysfunction?

The announcement will come later today in Virginia… on the last Saturday of The Olympics… in the middle of summer holidays around the globe… two+ weeks before the Republicans’ end-of-August convention in Tampa… when no one will be watching except politics wonks?

Paul Ryan, whose signature legislative achievement is creating a budget plan so abhorrent it united Democrats and Republicans in opposition of it, now wants to be a heartbeat away from a 65-year-old Romney as President?

The Ryan budget will gut Social Security (turning it into a coupon programme), slash Medicare, all entitlements and essentially set seniors back 100 years to a time when they died in the streets? Mitt Romney then wants to blow a hole in the budget, gut all domestic spending, spend $5 trillion (unfunded) dollars more on an already bloated military, rattle sabres with Iran and the entire Middle East, cuddle up to Israel and ensure his neocon advisers get to further de-stabilise the region, thus driving up energy prices and deepening the recession?

The pair will then head out together on a campaign bus tour entitled…. the “Plan for a Stronger Middle Class Tour.” This is what a businessman President will bring America? I swear you cannot make this stuff up.

So the team that will destroy the middle class, plans for a ‘stronger middle class’ by taking an elitist billionaire so out of touch with the middle class he is beyond a laughing stock. They bring in an Ayn Rand acolyte determined to throw a generation of seniors joining the Medicare ranks under the bus for the simple crime of living too long?

Despite the US Middle Class paying more into the Social Security programme than they will ever see in payout, Ryan and the GOP see it as an entitlement programme needing cutting? The reason we do not have mass homelessness amongst senior citizens is this very safety net? It’s been there because they paid to create it over decades from their and employer taxes on their wages!

And with a completely straight face, they now expect seniors to vote for someone who wants to gut their future? What working person could ever vote Republican? Are they that stupid? (This said of an electorate that chose George W. Bush twice?)

And Mitt Romney is so out of touch he will piss people off that middle class by cutting into weekend sport viewing of Olympic Games, the last golf major-the PGA Tournament and the pre-season NFL football Middle America so enjoys watching?

What could possibly go wrong?

The GOP was eviscerated four years ago for placing an unknown 44-year-old half term Alaska Governor Sarah Palin on the ticket. Now Romney is in such trouble he is forced to take a similarly young Tea Party darling after making such a big deal about the need for someone with executive experience “ready to lead on Day 1″ whilst decrying Barack Obama’s lack of said experience?

I guess it’s true. IKOIYAR (It’s OK If You Are Republican). Rules you expect others to live by never, ever apply to you. You simply climb up on your high horse and attack your opponent for every false issue known to man.

Romney was on telly yesterday crying to NBC’s Chuck Todd that Bain and his taxes should not be campaign issues? Then he picks Paul Ryan? Whilst the GOP purged another 170K Democratic voters from the rolls in New Mexico this week including prominent voting right activists?

The only way the GOP can win is to cheat so the only question remaining by midweek? Which way will that double-digit Ryan bump go?
