Part Four – Election Theft? Nothing to See Here, Move It Along Now

by Denis G. Campbell

So says Arizona’s Pima County Election Commission in the ongoing SPIN war to (falsely) assure Arizona voters their electronic voting machines are 100% safe and reliable. This clean bill of health is based on the excuse parents give a three year old who incessantly says, ‘why?’ Because those in charge of the voting say so Billy.

Pima County officials insist there is nothing to see here despite last Friday’s detailed testimony of former NSA Analyst Michael Duniho to the Pima County Election Commission about irregularities we first reported here on Thursday and Friday. Indeed a citizen’s group in Tucson led by Democratic Party counsel Bill Risner filed a lawsuit to compel the commission to follow the law.

Now before you laugh, this is their third Mandamus brief. Each time the County makes cosmetic changes then rushes to the microphones to assure voters whilst simultaneously continuing to flout and break the law on ballot handling and security.

Sunday’s Arizona Star, a Lee Enterprises newspaper with a circulation of almost 400K or 1/3 of Pima’s registered voters, insisted in a banner headline:

Pima sees gains in election security

ARRAY OF CHANGES NOTED; SUIT TO SEEK STRONGER VOTE AUDIT

Or as we say here on planet Earth, the FOX is guarding the voting hen house yet again.

The Arizona Star is owned by Lee Enterprises. Lee Enterprises in a stunning reverse 3.5 somersault with a twist from a handstand bankruptcy (who does this remind you of? His name rhymes with Ritt Momney) took that debt-bloated balance sheet, shed $1 Billion dollars of it (poof!) and re-emerged free and unscathed. Their CEO did such a good job of emerging from bankruptcy in 2012, he was paid a $500K bonus for their great comeback. Indeed Sidley and Austin attorneys charging $600 added to their firm’s balance sheet too. In a Romney-esque Bain CEO move, they deftly left other creditors holding the bag.

So when their column tries to assure the reader elections are safe? I’ll go with the mathematicians. Sadly though, 1 in 3 voters saw the article where Pima officials assure everyone everything is fine and not much will break through if the mainstream media continues to slumber.

The closest one gets, even with evidence is an occasional story, this one by Victoria Collier  in Harper’s. Hidden behind a paywall it gets scant attention when it should lead every newscast. Indeed as we and Collier have proven, elections are shamelessly rigged more times than we could imagine.

Wrote Collier:

Said Jonathan Simon in a 2011 paper “To the American Media: Time to Face the Reality of Election Rigging,” he accuses the press of maintaining a Mafia-style omertà on the subject. “The gruesome truth,” he writes, “is that American elections can be rigged, and are being rigged, because the American media treats election rigging as something that—all evidence notwithstanding—could never happen here.”

If only… let’s hope enough watchful eyes are now well enough trained to watch for signs of hanky panky in thousands of polling places around the USA? Oh never mind, we’re so screwed.
