An Open Letter to Right Wing-Nut Racist Republicans

Posted on 18 December 2008 by Denis Campbell

Wing-nut Christmas Card with 2nd paragraph citing dark four years

Wing-nut Card. Click on the photo, 1st paragraph talks God, 2nd cites dark four years and spews hatred.

 By Denis Campbell

Your campaign of fear and hate? It didn’t work. Your attempts to portray our next President as a “lying Muslim socialist with no experience who hates our flag and Constitution and what this country was founded on.” It will put you further on the fringe than you already are. I’m really just sick of you. Sick and tired of mouthpieces: Sarah Palin, Rush Limbaugh and Bill O‘Reilly. Sick and tired of your media mouthpieces claiming they are ‘fair and balanced’ because they allow you to speak unchallenged.

You talk incessantly of God yet hide behind passages of the Bible you feel are relevant, forgetting or dismissing as the devil’s work everything else the Carpenter from Galilee taught. You rail publicly against compassion, understanding and tolerance, his prime teachings by the way, as the work of the uninformed and behave like four year olds in a schoolyard jamming your thumbs in your ears welding your eyes shut and repeating as loudly as possible, “I’m not listening, I’m not listening,” when you don’t like the message.

News flash, you lost. Each day with every new scandal, you become less than irrelevant. Each time you open your mouth whether disguised as southern Senators trying to bankrupt the Big Three, bust unions or deny gay marriages, you show your narrow-minded xenophobia and true hatred of anyone not like you. Your 1950’s Donna Reed Show view of the world is unreal and untenable, everyone (but you) has to follow it.

Unless someone is truly ‘born again,’ they do not exist. Your supreme spiritual arrogance runs every aspect of your life and says to always refute and dismiss anyone you disagree with and share that Moonie-like cult following grin, proclaiming access to some divine secret… “if you knew what I knew or you don’t know the truth like I do.”

Argument over. You will never then share from where that ‘truth’ comes for fear of being brought into an intellectual circular argument from which there is no escape. Blind faith is all that matters and blind pronouncements become the norm from this dogmatic place.

Where the rest of us allow doubt and uncertainty to actually be places from which knowledge and learning can be transmitted, if engaged you go back to the standard line, grin and care not a whit what anyone else thinks because… you know!

You want your President to be like you, a person you could share a beer with. We’ve had that for 8-years and look where we are… 2 wars, economic meltdown and shoes being thrown at our Commander in Chief. He is a cocktail joke and we became a third world nation with nukes under his watch.

I want the smartest guy in the room running things, someone with judgment and putting a selfless and outstanding team together. Your idol is Joe the Plumber and Caribou Sarah issuing smarmy one-liners, like David Cameron in the UK during Prime Ministers Questions only yours bring out the ugliest sides of your constituency – Kill Him!, Terrorist! And a cascade of boos.

You say the most hateful and despicable things about another then close by saying God Bless You, demanding that God Bless America instead of offering a prayer, offering hugs, Hindu greetings such as Namaste as if that is somehow your salvation and absolution for the inconsistencies and hatred you just preached. You want me to believe and follow you yet in your heart if hearts neither know nor care if I ever will because no one can to your satisfaction. Lt only matters in your closed world that I parrot every word, thought and deed.

You are a sick, sad and deluded group that even the moderate members of your party, John McCain, Colin Powell and others are trying to figure out and pray you do not destroy the party further than you already have. I listened to you call the White House the Dark House during the Clinton years. His imperfections were known to all but you made it personal and a bloodsport.

Now, even the man who led that charge, Newt Gingrich, wants nothing to do with you thinking you left crazy a few weeks ago (I mean going after Obama for holding back when asked to by the Special Prosecutor in Chicago for fear it would harm his case and then creating a conspiracy where one does not exist.)

You are now trying to re-write the Bush legacy and history and it is failing miserably. You will try to drown the government and you will fail. Because, ironically, your own icon, Richard Nixon’s great silent majority, has turned its back on you and everything you stand for.

They supported Barack Hussein Obama because he will be our next President and he will get us out of the mess your greedy compatriots put us in while lining their pockets. It will be a fight worth fighting, eliminating special interest lobbies and ending the government piggy trough once and for all so this government once again is of, by and for the people.

So head to your mountain tunnel in Tennessee, wait in your underground bunkers with your guns, canned food and pray together for the rapture you think is coming to save your sorry butts. I may not know much theology wise, but it sure seems your rapture will be no different than the one those 19 terrorists who crashed the four airplanes faced. They thought they would be greeted in the afterlife by 72 virgins. I feel pretty certain they were as sorely disappointed as you will be.

I want my God and my country back again from wherever you sickos hijacked it. The film ‘Philadelphia’ ends with a dying gay lawyer (ironically) played by Tom Hanks asking his partner, “what do you call 200 lawyers tied together beneath the ocean?”

“A good start.”

January 20th at noon will be “a good start” and like in 1960, there are enough people of goodwill, selflessness and conscience going to clean up your mess that yes we will take back our country, make it available again to all Americans and become a shining beacon and example for the rest of the world.

So just, please, shut up and stay out of the way! We are sick and tired of your whingeing! You may be tone deaf, but you would be wise this time not to mess with us now. You’ve already doomed your party to obscurity until 2020, shall we try for 2024? 2028? 2032? Fine with me.

    Excellent retort, Denis.

Something always bothers me about the religious right. Why do they praise a loving, forgiving God but damn all to hell who won’t join in praise of their imaginary friend?

Happy holidays to all, and to all a good night.

About The UKProgressive

UK Progressive E-Magazine began during the 2008 US Presidential Campaign and was created to consolidate and replace two blogs created in 2006 called “Outside the Boundaries,” a political blog and “Fire the Guru!” an expose blog of charlatans in the Mind Body Spirit business. It was briefly called The Vadimus Post. That name came from the Latin 'Quo Vadimus' or 'Where Are We Headed?'

When looking for pithy Latin URL names, I’d watched a moving episode of the same name (different tense, Quo Vadis) from Sports Night, an early series created by The West Wing’s Aaron Sorkin. It was the last episode and focused on the sale of the network to an unknown billionaire who asked the question every day of those who worked closest to him. He wanted to know the answer and… Do We Know Why? His rationale: we spend so much time on things urgent, we miss the important and do we ask ourselves (and others) why we are heading in a particular direction?

Well that is what we ask in these Op-Ed pieces, articles, live feeds, video segments and contributions from friends and affiliates. We are blessed to be able to dialogue with you and our aim is to provide independent, critical insight into the issues of the day. UK Progressive is published daily in Monknash, South Wales. Its founder, An American in Wales, is US journalist Denis Campbell who has been based in The Netherlands and the UK the last 11-years.

The opinions expressed are those of each contributor and do not represent the opinion of Denis Campbell (unless expressly authored by him), our advertisers, any related companies and/or their affiliates. UK Progressive is a free, continuously improving news distribution service (because none of us could live with ourselves or face our mothers if every edition did not represent our very best effort). A lot of work goes daily into producing this true labour of love.

While most of us have other day jobs to eat, we’d love to get to the point where we can monetize this so it covers all of our expenses, allows us to pay our contributors for their fine work and helps us to continue to expand and grow. While not like PBS or other media groups shilling for logo umbrellas every ten minutes, we find it embarrassing to even have to ask… and we could use your help.

If you like what you see here and would like to help us bring it to you by making a donation to support future developments, well, we’d really appreciate it. Our PayPal account is named after a lovely canal side café in Lochem, The Netherlands which our office overlooked years ago.

We promise a team cheer and ‘happy dance’ in your name in advance. Thanks.
